The Duchess Floral Ice-Lollies & Launch Event

A few days ago we had the delight of tasting the new Floral varietal from The Duchess – local Virgin Gin & Tonic.
We know you’re probably wondering how they manage to make a virgin gin and tonic that still tastes like the real thing; and to be honest, we’ve just pegged it to botanical sorcery.

The Duchess Floral is crafted with fragrant floral extracts that harmoniously blend with the refreshing bitterness of the gin and tonic flavours. It is infused with the natural extracts of primrose, citrus blossom and indigenous honeybush. The citrus blossom naturally compliments the zesty taste of gin and tonic, while the honeybush is a tip of the hat to The Duchess’ local roots – which we love!

We tried our hand at making these floral drinks into something even more floral for Summer.

The Duchess drinks are best when cold – just like a G&T. And what’s the most cold we could make something? Well, by freezing it, of course.

We made these fun and floral ice-lolly versions of The Duchess Floral by adding nothing but some edible flowers we bought from the Saturday Oranjezicht City Farm Market, some beautiful seasonal fruit pieces and The Duchess. We’ve added a few additional recipes below so you can choose which flavours to bring out in your own ice-lollies.

We love how the liquid forms a little time capsule around the flowers, holding them in a moment. Edible flowers all have their own flavours, so have a nibble on a few before you pop them into your mould.

With our endeavour to be more conscious and sugar-free, The Duchess has really helped when we feel like we would like to join in on the socialness of a drink after work, but not get the alcohol or the sugar hangover along with it. These ice-lollies are so easy to make and can be enjoyed by everyone too. The flowers really up the ‘wow’ factor when you hand them to your guests. We’re thinking Summer afternoons in the garden, with flowy dresses and nice music…You could even opt for a red, white and green theme to end off Christmas day with something beautiful and cleansing.

We’d love to see you make these yourself and are giving away a brand new, magenta-coloured beautiful box of The Duchess Floral on Instagram. Follow the steps in the post to enter and we’ll announce the winner next week!
